Dichloromethane, an organic compound with the chemical formula of CH2Cl2, is a colorless transparent liquid with a pungent odor similar to ether. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and ether. Under normal conditions of use, it is a nonflammable solvent with low boiling point. When its vapor becomes high concentration in high temperature air, it will generate a mixture of weakly burning gases , which is often used to replace flammable petroleum ether and ether.

In the reaction of low-density foam, it can absorb a lot of heat in the process of vaporization, which is conducive to reducing the reaction heat. In addition, the molecular weight of MFC is lower (84.9) than that of CFC-11. The molecular weight of CFC-11 is 137.4, and the foaming rate is high. Moreover, the amount of use is only 60%~70% of that of CFC-11.
